North Salem Youth Basketball League

Biddy Ball is offered once a week on Saturdays (mid-day) to boys and girls in Grades K-2. At this level, the session is run in a clinic format where skills and drills are the focus for much of the session, followed by a mini scrimmage based upon players in attendance. The goal is to introduce players to the fundamentals of the game while educating them on the rules of basketball. Biddy Ball begins in January 2022. Exact practice time will be determined by enrollment and if we need to offer two sessions or one. Spectators will be limited to one adult family member, unfortunately siblings will not be allowed to attend.

3rd/4th Grade Boys and 3rd/4th Grade Girls Evaluations will be held to help establish players’ abilities to assist in creating balanced boys and girls teams. Players are assigned to a team with a weekly practice time and one weekend game on Saturday morning at the PQ gym. Traditionally, game times have been 8am, 9am or 10am. Playoffs are held the last week of the season with a championship/consolation game happening the last Saturday of the season.

Please note, practices are held on a weeknight that is determined after the teams have been formed, based upon coach availability. Teams are coached by a parent volunteer. Practices will start at 7 or 7:30pm.

7th/8th Grade Boys and 7th/8th Grade Girls The format for this division is modeled around a pick up style basketball game. Players that are present each week create teams and play for an hour with a referee overseeing the game. Parent volunteers are required at this level to assist in getting the games up and running in a timely fashion and help oversee subs. NEW THIS YEAR - we are going to run this program on Saturdays with the exception of three weeks where it will be run on Friday nights instead.

HS Program In this division, players choose the teams and coach themselves in a weekly game that is overseen by a paid referee.  The best teams will meet on the last weekend to determine their champion. (If we do not have enough interest to support a Girls HS Division, we  will offer refunds.) Please register early and spread the word to ensure we have enough players registered to offer this division.
